Little Pow-Wow Party

As promised, a peek into Lincoln's first birthday bash! I'm not exactly sure how the idea popped into my head. I think for whatever reason I was thinking about these awesome dream catchers my mom used to make, wondered if she still had her collection of all the tools and well probably a few thoughts later, Pow Wow came about! From there, I typed it into Pinterest and I was even more sold on it!! My goal for my kids' parties is always to go simple(somewhat, haha) and to keep the budget as low as possible. If there's any opportunity to make décor, you bet I'm gonna go that route! Especially when you figure most of the "props" and items usually just get tossed anyway. Through all my online hunting I found an awesome party planning site with FREE printables! Invites, labels, and the cutest cutouts to make party favor drums! I really wanted little notebooks for the goody bags too but that was adding up quick with what I liked on etsy. Soooo, with some old card stock I had on hand and notebook paper I just decided on small matchbook notebooks. Folded, fit paper inside and stapled! Paired each one with these awesome twig pencils and I couldn't have been more pleased!
I have a BIG love for all things Kraft paper which made going with plain paper bags an easy choice for the guests to put their treats in. I also got the popcorn idea from Confetti Sunshine! A sharpie and a quick drawing go a long way, more so because I was too tired to cut out anything snazzy to glue on the bags. :)
Anything I came across that I loved, like Lincoln's cake topper, I just got supplies at my local craft store and made my own. It is pretty easy, just takes some time to diy! Totally worth it though, and I am beyond grateful to have had my fantastic family to help!! They sure are a creative bunch! Happy to say, everything came together just as I imagined..actually EVEN BETTER than I had hoped for! The guests were wonderful and a super lovely time was had. I so wish we would've gotten a video of everyone singing Linc, Happy Birthday..timing was impeccable and with a swift chop of his toy tomahawk he "blew" out his candle!! It was the cutest thing and so hilarious! I will have to find pictures of all the beautiful dream catchers my mom and sister made and hung around the room, I can't believe I didn't get close ups of those. All in all, the day was incredibly special and an absolute blast. Have fun perusing the pictures of all the gloriousness! :)

My talented mama made my boys their own headpieces and custom walking sticks for all the tiny guests!

How stinkin cool is this piñata one of my aunts made, she even made little Lincoln cooking a fish over a campfire!!

Another aunt made a special trip all the way from Portland and made everyone these incredible treat bags, not pictured some traditional "medicine" bags filled with chocolate to give away as prizes too! We were blessed by such willingness to help!

Love.
